Everytown for Gun Safety is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States dedicated to preventing gun violence and advocating for stronger gun safety laws. Founded in 2013 through the merger of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Everytown has grown into a movement of nearly 11 million supporters, including mayors, teachers, survivors, gun owners, students, and everyday Americans.
Everytown aims to end gun violence by:
Advocating for policy change at local, state, and federal levels.
Electing gun safety champions to public office.
Educating the public on the impact of gun violence and the importance of gun safety.
Supporting survivors and building community resilience.
The organization employs a combination of grassroots organizing, research, litigation, and public education to achieve its goals.
Through its research arm, Everytown Research & Policy, the organization conducts independent, evidence-based research to inform policy decisions and public understanding of gun violence. Their studies have shown that states with stronger gun laws experience lower rates of gun deaths.
